I’m Nora McInerny and It’s Going To Be OK.

And today’s episode is kind of a silly one. It’s a little bit of a silly one because I have been trying new things this year. I am about to wrap up my 42nd year on the planet.

It’s hard to remember that. It’s like when you turn 42, you’re ending your 40. You’ve completed your 42nd year.

So I’m currently 41, working on my 42nd year. I’m in the midst. I’m in the midst.

This is why, honestly, I just think we should just say, you’re 40 till you’re 45. And then when you’re 45, you can be, after that, you just say you’re 45 till you’re 50.

At some point, we got to just count by fives because 42 just does not feel like a real age. 42, 43, 45, that’s a real age. 40, a real age.

41, I just, I’m not feeling it. I just, maybe I’ll even round up and just tell people I’m 45. That’s not the point.

The point is, this has been a year of trying things. And one thing that I’ve always wanted to do, I’ve always wanted to be Weird Al. I didn’t know that he was like a parody singer-songwriter when I was a kid.

I thought that other artists were ripping him off. I was like, man, I already heard this song and it’s actually not called Beat It. It’s called Eat It, okay?

So Michael Jackson’s got a bone to pick with me. But I’ve always wanted to be Weird Al and I have been held back by the fact that, you know, singing and music are not in my wheelhouse until this year.

Until this year when I made it happen, I wrote a parody Christmas song and I recorded it with my best friend Dave, and then we created a music video that is on my Instagram account right now. But I am sharing the track with you guys.

I’m sharing the track with all of you because I think all of us know what it is like, to be a little bit grinchy this time of year, to have a holiday that just goes wrong and just hold on to a little bit of resentment.

I wanted to make something funny to celebrate those of us who are having a petty little Christmas. Here you go. Also, apologies.

I know I’m not in the right keys, but I don’t know what keys are. So what do you want me to do about it? I’m so stressed right now.

Wouldn’t it be incredible? What’s happening? What’s happening?

Like, what’s happening now, or what’s happening in a big picture? Was that real? I’m Nora McInerny, that was A Petty Little Christmas.

This is It’s Going To Be OK, a reminder that as the Christmas holiday approaches and your stress levels go up, these are just days, these are just days, they’re just days of your life, and it’s all your life. So whatever happens, happens.

Enjoy what you can, do your best and forget the rest, and have yourself a petty little Christmas now. This episode was produced by Claire McInerny and mixed by Amanda Romani.

The rest of our team is Marcel Malekebu, Grace Barry, and me, Nora McInerny. Our theme music is by Secret Audio.
