We recently asked you all to send us embarrassing stories to make the rest of us laugh (and to remember even the things that once mortified us eventually feel okay.) Today, Marnie tells us about her first massage.

Hi, it’s Marnie, It’s Going To Be OK. I’m calling to share a very embarrassing story. I was in my early 20s.
I was getting my first massage ever at the downtown St. Paul Marshall Field, Elizabeth Arden Salon. I was very nervous slash excited to get my first massage.
The massage therapist told me I could keep my underwear on or not. And I was like, I’m so cool. I’m very chill with this.
I’m going to not wear my underwear. I get in the room. She says to lay face up on the bed.
She leaves. I lay on there. It’s bright lights.
I’m laying full naked on the bed staring at the bright lights thinking, look at me. I’m so mature. I’m so awesome.
I don’t realize you’re supposed to get under the covers. I didn’t even see there were covers. I’m just laying there, full naked, ready for the massage therapist until she came in and she did.
She was so very sweet and said, oh, sweetie, let’s get you under the covers. I was ridiculously mortified and thought I would never ever tell this story. I now tell it all the time.
I think it’s hysterical, but my 23-year-old self was absolutely mortified and thought I would never ever recover. But I did, so I hope you enjoy.
Bye. I’m Nora McInerny. This is It’s Going To Be OK.
