Life often tries to get us down, but we’re not about to add spilled milk to that list!
About It's Going to Be OK
If you have anxiety, depression or any sense of the world around you, you know that not *everything* is going to be okay. In fact, many things aren’t okay and never will be!
But instead of falling into the pit of despair, we’re bringing you a little OK for your day. Every weekday, we’ll bring you one okay thing to help you start, end or endure your day with the opposite of a doom scroll.

I’m Nora McInerny and it’s going to be okay.
But what is IT, anyway?
Well, it’s different for all of us. And it’s different every day.
And today … it’s this.
Listener Submission: My thing is basically all of the words that come out of my four year old’s mouth. He seems to have epic timing for when I’m really on the edge, for saying stuff that just makes me laugh and appreciate being present with him. So we were at the store yesterday and he really wanted to use his super big muscles to grab a jug of milk. And I didn’t want to have milk spilled all over the grocery store, but I let him do it. He picked up the milk and it instantly, like, he just dropped it to the floor. It was way too heavy. I think the milk weighs as much as he does, so he just drops to the floor. But then he gets up and he pushes and he gets it in the cart and he goes, Mom, did you see that? That milk tried to take me down, but I said, Not today, milk! And I just pulled it right up. And really, when that’s like the narration of your day, that’s who’s commentating on all of your activities, it helps! That, that sort of narration just, just really, really helps keep you going.
If you don’t have a four-year-old who is around to narrate your life, feel free to do it yourself. Because you, too, have super big muscles. And yeah, sometimes even people with super big muscles end up in a puddle of spilled milk. And we know we’re not supposed to cry over it, but you know what? Sometimes you do!
But not today.
Today no milk will be spilled.
Today, whatever the MILK is, it is NOT getting spilled. You and your super big muscles are gonna get it into the cart. Is it going to try to take you down? You bet.
But not today, milk.
Not today.
