Enjoying parenting is all about noticing the little things. Nancy sent us an email telling us about a daily ritual between herself and her daughter.
About It's Going to Be OK
If you have anxiety, depression or any sense of the world around you, you know that not *everything* is going to be okay. In fact, many things aren’t okay and never will be!
But instead of falling into the pit of despair, we’re bringing you a little OK for your day. Every weekday, we’ll bring you one okay thing to help you start, end or endure your day with the opposite of a doom scroll.

Today’s okay thing comes from Nancy Alton, who sent us an email:
This show has made me think about when my two daughters were small. In the morning, I’d sing to them, Rise and shine and give God your goldfish, rise and shine and give god your goldfish, rise and shine and give god your goldfish, he likes goldfish too. I also started giving my youngest a piggy back downstairs to get her out of bed. School was hard thanks to learning issues. Eventually I started snuggling with her every morning, realizing that this helped her start her day. Flash forward to now, her senior year. I still snuggle with her most mornings, which might seem ridiculous. When she started setting her alarm clock a few years ago, she then stopped setting it. Why, I asked. Because she likes it when I wake her up. Now she still sets her alarm clock but I often go up and snuggle with her for a few minutes. And as I lay there, I think, this is what life is about, this connection we share. No matter what the day will bring to us, we have these minutes where everything is ok and I know all will be ok because tomorrow we will start the day together again, taking a few minutes to be with each other.
