Okay Caller:   Hi, my name is Molly, and something that reminds me that it is going to be okay are some very special rocks.  In 2020, during the initial surge of COVID, I was in lockdown with my baby and two year old daughters while going through a divorce.  We live in Tennessee and spent countless hours during that time hanging out by creeks, just the three of us.

The girls would hang in the water and splash, and to keep myself occupied, at some point I started looking for heart shaped rocks.  This was a time, for me, of pretty deep isolation and loneliness and uncertainty.  But I noticed that every time I found a heart rock, it brought a smile to my face.  I felt loved, connected, cared for, and safe.

I have continued to collect heart rocks since then,  and at some point it started feeling less like I was looking for them and more like they were finding me.  My phone has countless pictures of these special rocks.  We have multiple mason jars full of them in our living room.  One is clinking around in the dryer along with most.

loads of our laundry, and I give them to people most special to me when they’re having a hard time, leaving for a trip, or just as a little gift to say, I love you.  Friends now send me pictures of heart rocks that they find, and my daughters stuff them in their pockets at school to bring home to our collection.

It’s been over three years since I started collecting heart rocks.  Since then, I have regained my footing post divorce. I’ve endured the gut wrenching realities of co parenting. I’ve fallen in love, and I’ve had my heart broken.  Heart Rocks have been there through it all,  bringing me reassurance and grounding me in gratitude.

Sunsets don’t have to be beautiful for the sun to do its job.  The bright full moon on a clear night doesn’t have to take our breath away.  It’s just doing its moon thing.  And rocks absolutely do not have to be shaped like hearts,  but so many of them are, and they’re awaiting everywhere to show us that this universe is filled with love and care and connection.

And that’s how I know it’s going to be okay.
