This listener’s okay thing is Carson Behr, and well, we’ll let him introduce himself.
About It's Going to Be OK
If you have anxiety, depression or any sense of the world around you, you know that not *everything* is going to be okay. In fact, many things aren’t okay and never will be!
But instead of falling into the pit of despair, we’re bringing you a little OK for your day. Every weekday, we’ll bring you one okay thing to help you start, end or endure your day with the opposite of a doom scroll.

Okay Email: Hi IGTBO team 🙂
My okay thing is Carson. Carson Behr is 5 years old. He stormed into my life, forever changing it, one hot summer day in July much like this one. He arrived with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, because, truly what else do you get a 30 year old woman who was just diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer: flowers and a stuffed animal. Did I mention Carson Behr is a sassy, adorably lumpy cream stuffed bear? Including a picture so you can truly appreciate the sass. The cancer part wasn’t so great (don’t recommend), but it did bring me Carson in all glory. My wonderfully hilarious and warm hearted partner Adam not only embraced my insistence to sleep with a stuffed animal, but brought him to life with all the personality and voice acting of a consummate, Jim Henson level puppeteer.
But, let me tell you a little bit more about why Carson is my okay thing. Carson has proudly named himself leader of the Bedfellows (the term he has coined for the six stuffed animals that live on our bed). He has his own email address ([email protected]) he likes to email me from during the workday. He excitedly chants “Weekend Time” Saturday mornings (“weekend time” means he gets to sit on the couch) and manages to be INCREDIBLY offended when he gets deprived of said time. “No” is probably his favorite word. And last, but not least, he got through the pandemic by insisting that we ask our Google Home what a water buffalo sounds like every night before bed and giggling at the top of his nonexistent lungs. If you have a google home, do it. You won’t be disappointed.
Whenever I need a reminder of finding silliness and joy through the darkness, I think about Carson, the perfect comfort a stuffed animal can bring, and water buffalos.
As a bedfellow, Carson was quite inspired by Ralph’s bedtime wisdom – and wanted to share his rendition with you, Ralph and the listeners.
Thank you for this pod and all that you do to put good out in the world.
Lots of love,
Kimberlee (Adam and Carson)
