We have our first submission from a child, and it might just be some of the most sage insights we’ve gotten yet.
About It's Going to Be OK
If you have anxiety, depression or any sense of the world around you, you know that not *everything* is going to be okay. In fact, many things aren’t okay and never will be!
But instead of falling into the pit of despair, we’re bringing you a little OK for your day. Every weekday, we’ll bring you one okay thing to help you start, end or endure your day with the opposite of a doom scroll.

I’m Nora McInerny, and this is It’s Going To Be Okay. The okay thing on this show, on this experiment of ours, changes every day, and it’s different for everyone. And today. Sound the alarm. Mark this date in history. We have a submission from a kid. A youth! So everyone, try to look cool. Don’t do anything embarrassing.
She’s here.
Okay Listener: Hi Nora, my name is Rhea, and this is, makes me think that it’s going to be okay. Sometimes it’s little things and sometimes it’s big things. I have a story for both. My big thing is that when I was little, my family and I were watching a scary ish movie, and I remember I was worried about the characters and what was going to happen, and I thought that it would never be okay.
And I remember my mom leaned over and she whispered in my ear, the bad never wins. And I have remembered that ever since, because it’s true, if it’s always going to be okay in the end, and if it’s not okay, it’s not the end. So, that’s my big thing that I carry pretty much every day. Um, my little thing is that I…
I’m obsessed with dragons, and I love them, everything about them. And my grandma gave me a little packet of dragon temporary tattoos that I was very excited about. I gave one to my mom, um, and she put it in her jeans pocket. And she forgot to take it out before she put her jeans in the dryer. And so we washed the clothes and we ended up with a dragon temporary tattoo on the inside of our dryer.
And every day, every time I see it, it makes me smile. So, that’s what makes me think that it’s going to be okay. Thank you for the podcast and everything you do. Bye.
Raya, thank you for listening. Thank you for sharing your OK thing. Not just one thing. You shared two. You did extra credit. And my OK thing for the day… is that there are kids like you out in the world who are thinking deep thoughts and feeling big things and being willing not just to feel these feelings or think these feelings but to talk about them too.
