About It's Going to Be OK

If you have anxiety, depression or any sense of the world around you, you know that not *everything* is going to be okay. In fact, many things aren’t okay and never will be!

But instead of falling into the pit of despair, we’re bringing you a little OK for your day. Every weekday, we’ll bring you one okay thing to help you start, end or endure your day with the opposite of a doom scroll.

A listener reached out a while ago and told me that she was an English teacher, and that this podcast is a great tool for her students because, if you’re new here, every day is a new okay thing, and the voices change. Sometimes it’s me and sometimes it’s you, and we’re speaking in real sentences, not saying, EXCUSE ME MISS DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE LIBRARY IS?

And today’s episode comes from a person in POLAND, a person who speaks English and writes it not as their first language and who had the AUDACITY! To apologize! To us! For their english! When hellllooooo! Ask us about our polish!

If you speak more than one language, I firmly believe that you are a genius! You’re incredible! You’re absolutely amazing!!!

This email that you’re about to hear…came all the way from Poland.

Greetings from Poland!

Thank you for both of the wonderful podcast you are making.

Apologies for any language mistakes, feel free to correct them.

Here are 3 things that are always okay in my book:

1. Hammocks

I’m writing this lying in my hammock in my backyard, underneath a walnut tree. It’s a late summer afternoon.  The sun is shining through the leaves. There is a gentle breeze and the temperature is just right. My dog is lying beside me.  I’m about to eat some delicious, cold watermelon. I can’t think of a better way to rest than in a hammock – reading, maybe taking a little nap or just taking in the nature around.

2. Postcards

No postcard was ever sent with malicious intent. Or if it was Please don’t tell me. I collect postcards from the places I travel to, especially from art museums. I love sending postcards to family and friends just as much as I love getting them. And when I’m not travelling I do postcrossing – it’s a website that allows you to send postcards and receive postcards back from random people around the world. It’s a lot of fun and I highly recommend it.

3. Picnics

Everything tastes better on a picnic, that is just a fact. It’s the best way to eat a meal – to share it with family and friends surrounded by nature. When I was in high school we used to have picnics during lunch break every Wednesday. On number of occasions when the weather wasn’t good enough I’ve had indoor picnics and they are just as fun!

I hope you enjoyed my OK things.
